WestJet and WestJet Vacations have announced that they want you to book with confidence and have implemented flexible change policies:
- All new flight bookings made between March 5, 2020 and March 31, 2020 will be allowed a one-time change fee waiver.
- The one-time change fee waiver is available for any itinerary change made more than 14 days from departure.
Note:
– For changes within 14 days of travel, standard change fee rules apply. Difference in fares will apply.
– Bookings made between March 03, 2020 to March 04, 2020 for travel through June 24, 2020 will be a allowed a one-time change fee waiver for itinerary changes made more than 14 days from departure.
Additionally, West Jet is also adding flexibility to the Basic fare for travel that begins between March 9 and March 31, 2020.
- If you booked a Basic fare prior to March 3rd for travel in March, you will now be eligible to change or cancel your flight for the same fees as Econo fares.
- If you booked a Basic fare after March 3rd for travel in March and your flight is less than 14 days away, you can change or cancel your flight for the same fees as Econo fares.
- If you booked a Basic fare after March 3rd for travel in March and your flight is more than 14 days away you can change your flight one time for no fee
So, what this really mean? This has nothing to do with any move to help you because of the epidemic. It appears that West Jet wants to get their hands on your wallet and get you to purchase flights as everyone is undecided and not travelling. Those who purchased Basic flights prior to March 3 and any other flights prior to March 5 are out of luck.
