With Aeroplan, you cannot pool miles and a family and it has never been a good value to transfer miles between members, given that its so expensive at 2c per mile plus taxes. Also, it didnt make much sense either given the fact that you can book a reward flight for practically anyone from your account. So, if you wanted to fly but there was a stash of points in the account of your spouse, you could simply get your spouse to book a reward flight for you.
However, Aeroplan now has a promo where you can transfer Aeroplan miles between members for 1c per mile plus taxes. This offer ends quickly on March 16, 2020.
So, why is this beneficial? Generally speaking not really, but if you are short of a few miles to snag that redemption and instead of buying top up miles at 4c per mile plus taxes, this will only cost you a 1/4th of what it would cost to buy top up miles. It will also guarantee you getting that elusive First or Business class seat instead of waiting to earn the required few more miles.
So, safe flying.
