Shop with TD Points on Amazon

Shop with TD Points on Amazon

We have been enviously watching US card holders having the ability to pay fully and even partially with as low as just one American Express Member Reward point and score substantial discounts.

Well, a similar feature has now arrived for shoppers on Amazon.ca with cards issued by a Canadian Bank.
TD has become the first Canadian bank to join Amazon’s Shop with Points program, allowing customers with eligible TD Credit Cards to now use their TD points to make purchases at Amazon.ca.

Eligible cards include:
TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card
TD Platinum Travel Visa Card
TD Rewards Visa Card
and
TD Business Travel Visa Card.

Shoppers will now have the option to pay for eligible purchases on Amazon.ca using all of their available TD points or a portion of their available TD points and the balance charged to their credit card.

To avail of this feature, you will need to enrol your card.
Normally Amazon will automatically enrol your eligible card when available. If you opted out of automatic enrolment or wish to enrol your card now, you can do it when you are logged into your amazon account.

Ensure your eligible TD credit card is enrolled in Shop with Points by clicking on “Accounts & Lists” under your name on the top right.
Go to “Your Account” and then “Shop with Points” under “More ways to pay” section. If enrolled, you will see your balance here. Here are the steps:

Step 1:

Click on “Account & Lists”

Step 2

Go to “Your Account” under Your Account

Step 3

Click on “Shop with Points” under More ways to pay

Step 4

Add your eligible TD card by clicking on the TD logo

Step 5

Add your eligible TD card by clicking on “Enroll a new card”

Next, you would shop as normal and then at checkout, you would select your enrolled TD card as your payment method and choose the amount of available points you wish to apply to your order.
You may select as many or as few as you would like from your available points balance. Any remaining amount due after applying your points and any applicable Amazon Gift Card balance, will be charged to the associated TD credit card.
As you place your order, the applied dollar value of your TD points will be displayed in the “Order Summary” box.

This is a great move by TD Bank, but I am surprised with two limitations:
– Why are only four cards are eligible?
– When we should also be supporting the small businesses, why not expand it to other retailers?

303 points will give you $1 off at Amazon.
Not the greatest value but worth if you have no travel plans where you could have got 0.5 cents for travel booked through Expedia For TD.

1,000 Amex Membership Rewards points is equal to $7.00.

So it’s 0.33 cents per point, compared to 0.4 cents per point for self-booked travel or 0.5 cents per point for travel booked through ExpediaforTD.
