As the economy starts to open up gradually, Marriott Bonvoy is eyeing to get its share of the market by luring its members with some great and generous perks so that these travellers do not go to the competition.
I do want to preface by saying that at CanadaPointsGuy, we do not advocate non essential travel and strongly encourage travel when its safe to do so and to follow all travel advisories in place.
So, the first is Lowest Redemption Rates:
Over 5,500 properties around the world will be on Off-Peak redemption rates for bookings made during June 15–30 for stay dates through July 31. This means that you can get the lowest redemption rates of the year.
Also, note there is currently a promotion on purchase of Bonvoy points where you can get 60% more points when you buy or gift 2000+ points, now through June 30, 2020. So do the math and see if that works for you as keep in mind when paying with points, you do not usually pay taxes and you can also get the 5th night free. Another disclaimer is that you should not buy points speculatively but only if you have a redemption in mind.
As an example on a category 5 location you can save 10,000 points.
See the chart here for all off-peak levels.
The second is Elite Members — 50% Extra Elite Night Credits
Marriott Bonvoy recognises that we havent been able to travel this year, hence they are giving us a head start toward earning status next year by depositing 50% of the Elite Night Credits (“ENCs”) into our account based on our 2019 earned Elite status tier.
While our 2019 earned status has already been renewed through February 2022, these additional ENCs will jump-start our ability to move quickly to the next Elite tier.
These additional ENCs should be deposited in our account in late July.
See the chart below to see how many ENCs you can expect:
Also, note that in addition to these ENCs, if you hold a Marriott Bonvoy credit card, the ENCs from that can be stacked on top.
In addition, these Elite Night Credits will count towards achieving the 2020 Annual Choice Benefit, as well as achieving Lifetime Elite Status.
This will be music to the ears of those who only achieved Gold as they can now move up to Platinum as thats where the perks really kick in.
You will now have a 13 ENCs, get 30 with the 2 Marriott Bonvoy cards, and stay only 7 stays to reach 50 ECNs to attain Platinum.
So, will you be travelling to take advantage of the off-peak rates?
