Emirates has always been a pioneer in introducing never done before amenities and features for their travellers – showers on a plane? Bar on a plane? They have done it again by becoming the worlds first airline to offer free global cover for your COVID-19 health expenses and quarantine costs. This is indeed a brilliant move by the airline to lure passengers and get them to fly with confidence.
So what do you get?
Free Global cover:
Book your flights on emirates.com or with your travel agent and you’ll automatically receive free global cover* for COVID-19 related costs. The cover is valid for 31 days from the moment you take your first flight, and it covers you even if you travel onwards to another city.
*expenses require pre-approval. Subject to terms and conditions.
Peace of mind:
If you are diagnosed with COVID-19 while you’re away from home, Emirates will cover your medical expenses up to EUR 150,000 and your quarantine costs up to EUR 100 per day for 14 days – absolutely free.
How do you claim?
You will automatically be covered when you book on emirates.com. There are no registration forms to complete. If you are diagnosed on your travels, call the free hotline number +971 4 2708825 or send them a WhatsApp message +971 56 3589937 to get support and to use your cover.
This coverage applies for travel between July 23, 2020 and October 31, 2020. The assistance is valid for 31 days from the first flown flight of your journey from the date of departure, ir-respective of whether it is a one-way ticket or return ticket. A second one-way ticket will be treated as a new booking,
with a new 31 day period of assistance.
And for those of us using reward miles, rest assured as you are covered too as it does explicitly state in the FAQs:
Am I covered if I use my miles or cash + miles to purchase the ticket?
Yes, you are covered as long as you have a valid Emirates ticket and you have flown the first flight of your journey on Emirates.
Note however, that this is covered only when using Skywards miles as the ticket has to be issued using EK Stock starting with 176.
You will not be covered when redeeming Alaska Miles as those award tickets are issued using Alaska stock starting with 027.
