Emirates will suspend flights to Guangzhou (CAN) and Shanghai (PVG) from Wednesday 5 February 2020, until further notice under directives from the UAE authorities.
However, operations continue from Beijing (PEK) as scheduled. Passengers departing Beijing are required to check in 8 hours before departure as they will be subject to additional medical tests.
Passengers with bookings to Guangzhou (CAN) and Shanghai (PVG) between February 05 to February 29, 2020, can refund their unused ticket, or choose to reroute their journey to/from Beijing (PEK) or Hong Kong (HKG) and any applicable change fee or fare difference will be waived. However, no compensation will be provided for surface transport from Beijing or Hong Kong to their final destination city.
You can initiate a refund request by clicking on the Request Refund page if you booked directly with Emirates else you will need to contact your travel agent.
It is good to see airlines and Emirates in particular taking steps to ensure safety of the passengers and crew without any compromises. It is also commendable to note that while Emirates acknowledges they are experiencing a high call volume, they have made it easy to allow the refund process online. Air Canada – I am looking at you.
Stay safe and safe travels.
