It was sad indeed when Esso stopped issuing Aeroplan Miles (the name for the Aeroplan currency then) June 1, 2018.
Now, as of June 17, 2021, enrolment for Esso Extra is no longer available. If you are a member already with Esso Extra points, you can continue to redeem until January 17, 2022. You will also be able to convert Esso Extra points to PC Optimum points between January 18, 2022 to April 30, 2022.
Then, effective January 18, 2022, you will be able to redeem PC Optimum points for fuel and car wash rewards at Esso stations.
This move will allow you to earn PC Optimum points at
– Esso and Mobil stations
– Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix
– Loblaws
Details on how to convert your Esso Extra to PC Optimum will be released closer to January 18, 2022.
Meanwhile, a couple of things to keep in mind to ensure a smooth conversion:
– Ensure your email address on your Esso Extra is up-to-date
– Ensure your Esso Extra card is registered
– Sign up for PC Optimum is you dont have one already – either by downloading the app and creating an account or sign up in store at Esso, Shoppers Drug Mart etc.
Note: If you have not taken positive steps to convert your Esso Extra points to PC Optimum points on or before April 30, 2022, you will no longer be able to convert your points, and will therefore lose the value of your Esso Extra points.
Also, keep in mind if you currently donate Esso Extra points to United Way and/or Hockey Canada Foundation, effective January 18, 2022 you will no longer be able to do this.
