There has been no official press release but it appears that Air Canada will operate direct non-stop flights to/from Doha in the Middle East.
The flights are already available on aircanada.com with a note that they are subject to government approval.
It is also already available to book on aeroplan.com albiet with a very high surcharge at the moment.
Details of the flights are as follows:
Toronto to Doha
AC058: This flight will depart Toronto at 20:10 local time and arrive in Doha at 16:40 local time the next day. Flying time will be 12hours and 30mins.
Doha to Toronto
AC059: This flight will depart Doha at 08:40 local time and arrive in Toronto at 15:05 local time the same day. Flying time will be 14hours and 25mins.
Air Canada will operate this route with a 787-9 aircraft, in a 3 config consisting of business, premium and economy with 30, 21 and 247 seats resp.
What is strange is that the outbound shows up on Dec 15,
but the inbound shows up on aircanada.com only on Dec19,
while it shows on aeroplan.com on Dec18.
This is an exciting addition for redemptions using aeroplan especially for those flying out of Toronto as it saves us from getting into Montreal or a US gateway city to fly on Qatar Airways and also, hopefully it will be cheaper to wait till after Nov 08 to book with lower surcharges.
