Aeroplan has just announced a host of changes effective May 25, 2020.
Here is a link to the current T&C’s.
Here is a quick summary of whats being modified:
My interpretation is in italics below each point.
Related to point 2:
Aeroplan Memberships and accounts are administered online only. Each member is required to have a valid email address. Using a valid email address, a member is responsible for creating online credentials in order to access an account, review account details including transactions, messages from Aeroplan, account updates and to complete transactions.
So looks like Aeroplan is making a push to online transactions.
Related to point 15:
Aeroplan’s principal form of communication with a member will be by email. By participating in the Aeroplan Program, members agree that all Aeroplan Program, Aeroplan Membership and account communications will be provided to a member electronically only.
Again it looks like a push to communications by email only. Hope the emails dont end up in Junk mail.
Related to point 22
This is removed.
So the following dates and deadlines are no longer applicable.
you can accumulate Aeroplan Miles until December 31, 2019, and request reward travel until March 31, 2020. Reward travel must be completed by December 14, 2020.
Related to point 25
Keeping contact information up-to-date
Aeroplan is putting the onus on the member to ensure one updates their contact information in the Aeroplan account.
The good news is point 22 is removed so it potentially opens up the window in which to earn and redeem towards rewards. Perhaps with all the system migration issues, they are not quite ready for this transition?
Either way, I am not ready to knock off Aeroplan yet and will still keep collecting Aeroplan points as I am also still waiting on my bonus offers to hit my account.
Safe flying.
