Porter to resume flights on September 8

Porter has announced that if you now buy a ticket before August 31;
Flight change fee waiver applies to any Porter flight booking made before August 31, 2021, for travel within the next 12 months.
Flight cancellation fee waiver applies to any Porter flight booking made before August 31, 2021. If you’ve booked directly with Porter and you cancel, a credit will be issued; it must be used within 12 months of the original booking date.
No more full refunds.

Update: Porter has further announced that they are making all fares purchased by July 31, 2021 for travel through December 15, 2021, fully refundable, with no fees.

Its great to hear Porter will be resuming flights again on September 08, 2021 since they were suspended “temporarily” at the end of the day on Friday, March 20, 2020.

They kept on pushing the resumption dates from June 1, 2020
to February 11, 2021
to March 29, 2021
to May 19, 2021
to June 21, 2021
to July 20, 2021
to August 03, 2021
due to ongoing COVID-19 travel restrictions.
This is nearly 18 months after they were suspended.

The resumption of their flight network will be done in phases as below:

Domestic flights will resume between September 8 and October 6

and flights to/from the US will resume on September 17.

Additionally, for peace of mind, all fares purchased by July 20, for travel through December 15, 2021, will be fully refundable with no fees.
This also applies to Porter Escapes vacation packages.
Looking into the fineprint, it appears to be straight forward with no hidden clauses.

Refunds must be requested up to 1 day before the scheduled departure of the first leg of the journey. Refund is available for Porter ticketed reservations only, booked in Basic, Standard, Flexible or Freedom fare. Refund amount will include base fare, taxes and any ancillary fees purchased, including bag fees and seat fees.

Refunds will be provided back to the original form of payment.

• Credit card refund will be issued for bookings paid using a credit card.
• Flight credit will be issued for bookings purchased with a flight credit.
• Porter Passes or Porter electronic vouchers used as payment on the initial booking will be reinstated with their original date of expiration upon flight cancellation. Porter voucher or Porter Pass terms and conditions will apply.
• When cancelling a VIPorter redemption booking, your points will automatically be re-deposited into your account.

For bookings made via travel agency partners,

• When purchase is by electronic ticket, Refund Promotion applies to new, original bookings only.
• You will need to contact the travel agent directly to request a refund for eligible bookings.

For partial cancellations or for bookings made using a combination of different forms of payments, refunds will not be processed automatically through our website. To request a refund, please complete the online Refund Request Form or contact our Call Centre at 1-888-619-8622.

For Porter Escapes packages, you will need to contact Porter Escapes at info@porterescapes.com. Bookings cannot be cancelled online. All cancellation requests must be submitted at least three (3) days before departure.

Refunds may take up to 14 days to reflect in your account. No-shows are not permitted, and will result in the forfeiture of the full amount of the fare at departure time. Also, no-shows at the original point of departure will also result in cancellation of remainder of passenger’s through or connecting flights.

This opens up the opportunity to book flights for all the pent up travel demand/revenge travel knowing that if anything changes, you are able to cancel for a full refund.
