Aeroplan is back with yet another promo and this time its upto 40% off on hotel and car bookings.
This promo is to prompt Canadians to explore our own backyard and beyond using Aeroplan miles to pay for hotels and car rentals. You need to book by August 4, 2020 for travel from July 22‑October 31, 2020.
Note the promo is “up to” 40%.
So on hotels:
You get
40% off 4 and 5 star hotels
20% off hotels with 3 stars or less
And, on rental cars:
You get
40% off Premium, Luxury, Standard Elite cars
20% off Economy, Compact, Intermediate, Standard, Fullsize, Mini cars
Here is the fine print:
1. Redemption discount will be applied automatically for all hotel and car redemptions.
To test this I tried to make a booking at a 5 star hotel, The St. Regis in downtown Toronto for 2 nights between Aug26-Aug28 and it didnt appear to offer me a full 40% off on miles but just around 19.5%.
2. Certain destinations might not be offered for last minute bookings.
3. Discounts based on tier and category of hotel and car rentals. Hotels: 2* and 3* receive 20% off, 4* and 5* receive 40% off, Cars: Economy, Compact, Intermediate, Standard, Fullsize, Mini receive 20% off, Premium, Luxury, Standard Elite receive 40% off.
4. Offer valid for bookings made between July 22, 2020 and August 4, 2020. For travel between July 22, 2020 and October 31, 2020. Hotel and Car offerings are subject to availability at time of booking. Offer is subject to change at Aeroplan Travel Services’ sole discretion, without notice; other conditions and restrictions may apply.
I personally would not be booking this nor recommend using Aeroplan miles for hotels and rental cars as you can get better value by redeeming for premium cabins on flights. Besides if you use hotel points like Bonvoy, you can avail of the fifth night free and also take advantage of your tier status with the hotel chain.
Thanks but no thanks Aeroplan on this one.
