Updated on Aeroplan.com – Deadline extended till October 16, 2020
If you’d like to cancel any Flight Reward, the fastest way to do so is at aeroplan.com. Due to high call volumes, we are experiencing long hold times at our contact centres. Until October 16, you can cancel free of charge and receive all of your Aeroplan Miles back in your account, plus a full refund of any associated taxes, fees and surcharges on the unused value of your travel.
What is strange is that the new date is in the middle of the month when all prior deadlines were at the end of the month.
Further to my earlier post where Aeroplan had extended its deadline till June 30, 2020, it has now extended it till August 31, 2020.
If you’d like to cancel any Flight Reward, the fastest way to do so is at aeroplan.com. Due to high call volumes, they are experiencing long hold times at the contact centres. Until June 30, you can cancel free of charge and receive all of your Aeroplan Miles back in your account, plus a full refund of any associated taxes, fees and surcharges on the unused value of your travel. Simply log in and visit Manage your bookings.
Note that cancellation of Flight Rewards cannot be completed online if you have already checked in for your flight, or have already commenced travel. In these scenarios, you would need to call the Aeroplan Contact Centre to complete the cancellation. Also, note that refunds will not apply for previously-charged fees, including contact centre booking fees and change fees, or for government taxes and fees which are non-refundable by law.
Well done again Aeroplan – the only loyalty program so far that I am aware of that is offering full refunds or rather a re-deposit of all Aeroplan miles.
Also, incase you missed this announcement earlier, Aeroplan has paused expiry of Aeroplan miles until July 14, 2020. This means that between now and July 14, any Aeroplan Miles that would have expired will not. Effective July 15, the normal expiration policy will once again apply.
So to keep it from expiring; remember to do one of the following if the period is not extended:
– Shop online with one of their retail partners
– Redeem for gift cards and merchandise
– Donate miles to a participating charity
– Buy miles
Stay Safe and practice responsible travel.
